Avalon Artists Unleashes "Junk Drawer Mix": A Creative Spark in Every Box

SPOKANE, WA – October 26, 2023 – Avalon Artists LLC, a Spokane-based creative materials company, is shaking up the art world – or, more accurately, the junk drawers of America – with the launch of its brand new product, “Junk Drawer Mix.” Forget sterile art supplies, Avalon Artists is all about embracing the unexpected and letting creativity flow from the things we already have around us. Avalon Artists LLC, located at 522 W Riverside Ave Ste N, Spokane, WA, 99201, has been quietly building a reputation amongst artists and crafters for sourcing unique and inspiring materials. You can reach them at 360-519-5545. They’re not about perfectly polished canvases and pre-packaged kits. They believe the best art often starts with a little bit of chaos and a whole lot of imagination. And that's exactly where the idea for Junk Drawer Mix came from. “We noticed a trend,” explains Sarah Miller, founder of Avalon Artists. “Artists are constantly scavenging. They’re digging through their own junk drawers, flea markets, even the recycling bin, looking for interesting bits and pieces to incorporate into their work. It's this raw, resourceful approach to art that we really admire.” So, instead of just selling traditional art supplies, Avalon Artists decided to take the scavenging to the artist. Junk Drawer Mix is essentially a curated collection of, well, junk. But not just any junk. Think mismatched buttons, vintage keys, interesting metal scraps, colorful plastic bits, faded ribbons, unique paper clips, interesting washers, small gears, interesting packaging pieces, old game pieces, fabric scraps, and a whole heap of other delightfully random treasures. Every box is a surprise – a carefully assembled collection designed to spark your imagination and get those creative juices flowing. “We hand-sort and clean everything,” Miller clarifies. “We don’t want you getting a box of rusty nails and dust bunnies! Everything is safe to handle and ready to be transformed.” But why a “mix”? Why not just sell individual items? “That’s the fun of it!” Miller exclaims. “It’s about the challenge. It's about taking these seemingly unrelated objects and figuring out how to make them work together. It forces you to think outside the box – literally! It’s about breaking free from the pressure to create something ‘perfect’ and just playing with materials.” The applications for Junk Drawer Mix are truly endless. Crafters are using it for mixed media art, collage, steampunk-inspired creations, jewelry making, altered art, miniature scenes, and even as components in larger sculptures. Teachers are incorporating it into art lessons to encourage resourcefulness and problem-solving. Parents are using it for rainy-day activities with their kids, fostering creativity and imagination. “We’ve seen some amazing things come out of these boxes,” says Mark Johnson, a local artist who’s been testing the product. “I used a box to create a series of miniature ‘memory boxes,’ using the bits and pieces to represent different moments in my life. It was a really personal and rewarding project.” Another artist, Lisa Chen, used Junk Drawer Mix to create a vibrant mosaic, incorporating the colorful plastic and metal pieces into a stunning wall hanging. “It was so much more satisfying than working with pre-made tiles,” she says. “The imperfections and unique textures of the materials gave the piece a lot more character.” Avalon Artists isn’t positioning Junk Drawer Mix as a replacement for traditional art supplies. It’s more of a complement. A way to add a little bit of unexpected texture, color, and personality to your creations. “We want to encourage people to see the potential in everything around them,” Miller says. “To look at a discarded button and see a tiny work of art. To turn a piece of scrap metal into a robot arm. To create something beautiful out of something that others might consider trash.” Junk Drawer Mix is currently available in three sizes: The “Tinker” Box: A small selection of goodies, perfect for a quick project or a little creative boost. ($19.99) The “Maker” Box: A medium-sized collection with a wider variety of materials, ideal for more ambitious projects. ($34.99) The “Collector” Box: A large, overflowing treasure trove of junk drawer delights, guaranteed to keep you creating for hours. ($59.99) You can purchase Junk Drawer Mix directly from the Avalon Artists website at [insert website address here – this needs to be added], or at select art and craft stores in the Spokane area. Avalon Artists is also encouraging customers to share their creations on social media using the hashtag #JunkDrawerArt. They're excited to see what amazing things people come up with. “We believe everyone is an artist,” Miller concludes. “You just need a little bit of inspiration, a little bit of junk, and a whole lot of imagination.” About Avalon Artists LLC: Avalon Artists LLC is a Spokane, Washington-based company dedicated to providing artists and crafters with unique and inspiring materials.
